What number comes next?
How this challenge works
There are 15 questions split into 3 rounds of 5. Choose an answer to move on: the correct answer appears at the top of the next page, and the explanation comes right below it.
Count your points yourself, 1 for each correct answer: the right answer appears at the top of the next page. Between rounds, a page shows how much of the challenge you have completed and what comes next.
There is no time limit and nothing to fill in or install. If you like, use pen and paper: writing things down helps you see the rule.
The questions get harder as you go, and the last one in each round is usually the one that trips people up most. It's worth reading each one all the way through before choosing.
The three rounds
The first round has number sequences. In each one, there is a rule that explains all the numbers and indicates the next one.
The second uses figures: shapes, arrows and dots that change from one frame to the next following a pattern.
The third gathers short reasoning problems, the kind where the first answer that comes to mind isn't always the right one.
