Question 1 of 10
For botany, the tomato is a fruit.
How this quiz works
There are 10 statements, one per page. Decide whether each one is true or a myth: the correct answer appears at the top of the next page, and the explanation comes right below.
Count the points yourself, 1 for each correct answer, and see on the last page which range your round fell into. There is nothing to fill in or install.
The statements mix science, food, animals and everyday life. Some sound absurd and are true; others sound obvious and are myths.
Why myths stick
Many myths survive because they are easy to remember and repeat, or because they grew out of a true part that was exaggerated over time.
Checking where a piece of information comes from, not just how many times it has been repeated, is the best way to separate a fact from a myth.
In this quiz, five statements are true and five are myths, mixed together. Some fool even people who like science, so it's worth reading carefully before choosing.
Many myths also get passed down from generation to generation without anyone checking them. Science, by contrast, revises what it knows whenever new data appears.
