Which figure comes next?
Round 2: how to think about the figures
In figures, the secret is to look at one feature at a time. First ask whether the shape changes, then whether the position or direction changes and, finally, whether the number of elements increases or decreases.
When two things change at the same time, separate them. Follow only the shape along the sequence and then only the fill or only the direction. Each feature usually follows a simple rule.
It also helps to turn the figure into a number: count sides, points, or the size of the turn. Often, behind the drawing there is a numerical sequence like the ones in the previous round.
If two options seem right, go back to the start of the sequence and test each one in every frame, not just the last. The right rule explains the whole sequence.
The arrows require attention to the direction of the turn, and the figures with dots require attention to quantity. Count calmly, preferably row by row, because one dot more or less changes the answer.
In this round, the figures appear in frames side by side, and the last frame, with the question mark, is the one you need to figure out.
