True or myth? 10 questions

Question 5 of 10

The Moon always shows the same side to the Earth.

Why, in question 4: Dogs only see in black and white.

It's a myth. Dogs see colors, but fewer than we do: they have two types of color cells in the retina, not three. They distinguish blues and yellows well, while reds and greens look similar to them.

What dogs see better than we do

On the other hand, dogs perceive movement very well and see better than we do in dim light. A layer at the back of the eye reflects light back to the retina, and that is what makes eyes glow in the dark in photos.

Detail vision, on the other hand, is less sharp than human vision. A stationary, distant object may go unnoticed until it starts to move.

Smell is the dog's strongest sense. They have many millions more scent receptors than we do, which is why they are trained to find people, food, and other substances.

For toys, blue and yellow tend to stand out more to dogs than red, which in grass can look almost the same color as green.
